How to get fit

Hey girls! As from today I’m starting new section on my blog and that is Being Fit & Healthy. All we hear these days is you have to keep fit, eat healthy blah blah blah. Although in this fast moving modern world it’s never been more important. If we want to live a longer fuller life, we can’t expect it to just happen because we have a better health system than our ancestors.

Last year I was going to the gym 4 times a week in order to get fit for my summer holidays (inspiration for many of us I believe). I gained muscles but didn’t loose any weight. Haha. Unfortunately I had double bunion surgery on both of my feet in September and since then I haven’t been able to exercise at all. To be precise, I couldn’t walk properly for at least two months!! I’ve kind of managed to stay the same weight, but something changed in January. In a short period of time I managed to put 5 kilos!! on and went up one dress size (Aaaaaahhh). Prompt changes had to be done and immediately. If something similar happened to you as well or you just simply want to get fit, I’ve prepared a simple guide on how I’ve started changing my lifestyle for the better.

Don’t expect any fast results, this will be long term – like living healthy for the rest of your life.

Get your mind into it

It’s very easy to say “I want to get fit” or “I want to change my lifestyle” but the most important thing is to get our frame of mind right. It’s nice to want things, but we have to change words into action. If you want to, make a list of reasons why you do it, write it all down, it might be helpful to access it anytime you feel like you’re in doubt.

This one might sound a bit weird, but if you have a target, find a picture of someone with your preferred weight, plaster it on a fridge door (a bit masochistic, like torturing your mind – I have Victoria Secret models on my phone). Look at it every time you want a piece of chocolate or bag of crisps.

Find someone else who will support you, even better exercise with you. Share not only the pain but the gain as well! I have my boyfriend with me and it’s so much better when we both eat healthy and support each other in the gym.

You will love this part. Get yourself some pretty gym kit! It’s so great to exercise when you feel/look good. It somehow makes the pain less ….and more bearable.

Research your exercise regime and stick to it.

This one is very important. If you want to achieve results, you have to stick to your plan. If you want to stick to your plan, you have to think ahead and plan what kind of exercise you will do, where and what is the best way to accommodate it. The majority of people need a structure to be able to stick to and I’m definitely one of those people.

When I was planning my schedule, I had to think about my job, my blogging duties, and I shouldn’t leave out my precious boyfriend. I would be happy if I could go to the gym first thing in the morning but unfortunately mine opens at 7, which means I wouldn’t be able to get to work in time. On the other hand, my boyfriend’s decided to join me so it’s a double kill/win. I get to spend some quality time with him, as well as I’m being driven there. Haha! No one likes buses, they are never on time!

Research healthy recipes and do some serious food shopping

When I started I went on the internet and spent some time searching for easy, quick and tasty recipes that I could fit into my days. Use pinterest for ideas as well! There are so many ideas!

Keep a track of your results!

This will help you see how far you’ve come. It’s also good to remind yourself of the results when the process slows down.

Check out inspirational quotes I’ve found on the internet, to keep me going as well as laugh. There is more on my Pinterest Board Fitness Motivation. Also I keep track of the exercises I’ve discovered online on another Pinterest Board: Exercise.

I've done some posts on my blog about it – – such as my life in the dilemma of love eating and always wanting to be skinny, just started some recipes series that would probably will be 90% of time healthy and skinny foods, and my workout. Now I'm doing something to loose weight and when I reach my score I will be probably doing some losing weight tips post :). Just followed you, we have lots of things in common
