What’s in my Make-Up Bag

What's in my Make-Up Bag

We live in a time where there is a demand to look a certain standard. The demand to look your very best every day is out there whether we like it or not. What do I think? Do I like this pressure put on me, as a woman? Certainly not. But do I like airbrushing my face to recreate my youthful and somehow more beautiful self every morning? Hell yeah! I’m certainly not going to force anyone to look at my creased face every morning as much as I expect everyone else to wear clean clothes (there I said it). I love my make-up and I wish I could stay flawless right from the beginning of the day till I let a hot shower wash the stress of the day off my face. But that is not the case. Make up doesn’t stay on. Forget Hollywood beauties from your favourite movies, this is reality.

I try to limit the content of my make-up bag to a minimum as I certainly don’t want to carry half of my stuff with me all the time. Also, I’m a lazy creature after all, who doesn’t take pleasure in rummaging through a make-up bag to find the right shade of lipstick 2 minutes before I have to attend my next meeting. Hence, don’t worry, I’m not going to bore you with a never ending list of my make up essentials. So, shall we start?

Last summer all hell broke loose and I got soaking wet as an unexpected shower surprised me while walking outside without my umbrella. So for the unexpected showers – and the danger that I’ll smudge mascara all over my face – I always carry on me Volume Glamour MAX Holidays mascara by Bourjois. Its little size is just perfect to fit into my make-up bag as it doesn’t take up a lot of room.

Hand in hand with my mascara isdefinitely Eyebrow definer by Colorsport (purchased at Boots). I don’t have to retouch my eyebrows very often, but better safe than sorry, right? This is not the most expensive brand, but it does the job and stays on all day.

I prefer bold lips rather than eyes so my every day eyes are only touched up by a black or brown eyeliner. My favorite ones are Liner Feutre by Bourjois (black) and Max Factor Excess Intensity (brown). They both have thier own special place in my make-up bag (and my heart) and I can’t imagine life without them.

For everlasting blush, I’ve been obsessing with No7 Blush tint Sticks, they are very easy to apply and stay on for ages as well as give you the natural, not over the top look. Perfect for my everyday look.

Even though I’ve mentioned I prefer not to cram my make-up bag with
lipsticks, I tend to carry on me two to three shades at all times. In simple terms I don’t want to waste my precious morning time deciding
which shade to wear when I’m rushing to get to work. My best lippy
friends at the moment are Revlon Wild Orchid, MAC Lovelorn and Yves Saint Laurent Baby Doll Kiss & Blush (read my posts!!) three different shades to perfect my every day looks.

I’m 30 years old and I’m still trying to tackle my spots. Yes, I’m at an age where I should be relying heavily on anti-wrinkle creams of all sorts but no, not me. My face obviously prefers looking like a teenager who just walked out of high school. Hence, this little magic wand has become something like my best friend. It is a product of L’oreal – La touche magique. Its perfect consistency blends great with my skin tone and the brush makes it easy to use. What more do we need, girls?

The whole flawless look is being taken care of by my new MAC Mineralize Skin Finish powder filled with minerals. I put all my stakes on this one as I have my hopes high up that the minerals will help me to improve the condition of my skin (and if I have to clog up my pores, I’ll do it with the expensive stuff).

What do you think, is it too much or do you tend to stock significantly more? Let me know in the comments below. Also, let me know if you have tips on how to stay flawless for longer!

Yours truly,

I'm really bad with carrying out make up, I only tend to take lipsticks and an eyeliner with me. I need to have another look at my make up bag I think.

I absolutely love the shade of that Mac lipstick, might have to make a trip to the shop soon and stock up on some new lipsticks.

Its a shame that the cruelty behind these brands ,most of which are from animal testing companies, isn't looked into, its been highlighted by animal welfare organisations, campaigning models and actresses and ethical bloggers for years that it is not necessary to blind, maim or kill animals for cosmetics, hair dyes or skincare products. L'Oreal is notorious for animal testing and indeed tried to stall the recent European legislation against its ban, Revlon stopped animal testing but resumed for the Chinese market which usually demands it even with ingredients/products already tested, L'Oreal of course also do this claiming they test when required by law? Its also true that although these products and MAC products are tested on animals, its usually the case that ethically based products contain safer ingredients, which is certainly true for hair dye/maintenance like L'Oreal, Revlon or Garnier.
The market for ethical luxury products has grown as in this blog http://www.moadore.co.uk/p/cruelty-free.html
