What’s in your purse right now? Cash, credit cards, a few forms of identification…just the staples, right? No way. There’s no chance that’s true.
Admit it, we all carry a whole lot more than just the true essentials in our purses. If you’re anything like me, there’s everything from makeup and tissues, to an entire change of clothes for the gym (yes, my bag is that huge) and even a pair of foldable flats for when my heels are just too painful to bare. I do tend to pack as if I’m going on a month-long excursion each time I leave the house. So what can we do ladies to change? We can either continue to carry around an oversized and incredibly cumbersome purse, or we can take advantage of the latest fashion trend and exchange our bag for a backpack – a trend I’ve been watching for some time now…Anyone else?
When it comes to bags, backpacks are the new purse. Not only can they fit all of your belongings and look great at the same time, It’s also proven that they can significantly reduce stress on your back and shoulders by providing a symmetrical distribution of weight (as said by Leah Prinzivalli). And that’s pretty great, because it’s difficult to look confident with hunched shoulders and poor posture.
And don’t worry, you don’t have to walk around sporting the same kind of style you wore to primary school…(I had a Tom & Jerry one and it was the coolest thing ever!). Today’s backpacks are trendy and fashionable. If you browse the collection of bags on Lyst, you can see just how many of the world’s top designers are getting behind the movement. From Fendi and Tory Burch, to Marc Jacobs and Rebecca Minkoff, it’s easy to find a bag that best suites your style and your fashion standards. Just take it from some of the top trend-setting celebrities.
Zendaya was spotted wearing a chic black backpack during Paris fashion week. She was praised for her look, which included a pair of over-the-knee boots and a pleated, gray sweater dress.
Cara Delevingne was seen coming out of the Los Angeles airport with a purple, velvet backpack. Writer Ciara Farmer said Delevingne’s backpack was “the most wearable (and drool-worthy)” part of her outfit. And since Delevingne is known as the “undisputed queen of accessories,” she’s certainly adding fuel to this arm candy trend.
So what am I trying to say? Stop wasting time lugging around an uncomfortable and over-sized purse. Save your back, save your shoulders, and take advantage of this fun trend while you can!
Let me know guys which style is your favorite!
