Project Me Time: Learn to Relax Every Day

Project Me Time: Learn to Relax Every Day

I woke up early in the morning, the windows are lit in the sun, and birds are chirping away my favourite morning song. The feeling is so absolutely beautiful and charges me with positive energy. Kinda wish every morning felt the same.

However, most of them are dark, misty and well, rainy. With these kind of mornings we have to make most of it and try not to dwell on the little details.

Mornings should be relaxed, to give us a chance to start our day well…yeah, but when we want to live our dream (and pay our bills), we have to sacrifice a lot…and not only our mornings. Why am I telling you all this? Sometimes we get so wrapped in our own worlds and everyday stresses we forget about the most important thing “to live our lives”. I’ve started this series as a reminder to us all that we deserve a little bit of “Me Time”.

I would like to believe we can find our own little adventures during the day that would lift our spirits and enjoy our lives. Hence I started this “Project Me Time” where I’m hoping to inspire you to look after yourselves a bit more.

For the past week I’ve been savouring every little moment I could so I can try myself whether or not we can have a Me Time everyday.  In this week’s episode, I’m going to let you know how that went.

Monday – I Lit A Candle & Played A Board Game

…to my husbands horror I switched the TV off and placed Monopoly on the table. He was mortified while I ignored his poor excuses that all he wants to do is “chill and watch a bit of TV.”

Two hours later he completely crushed me and I gave in…there was no point of us continuing, he literally owned everything and I guess he had his revenge.

Project Me Time: Learn to Relax Every Day

Tuesday – Read An Actual Book

Reading…That used to be my ultimate favourite activity. The moment I can freely and comfortably snuggle up in my blanket with a nice warm cup of tea and indulge in the latest adventures of the current book heroes, was truly priceless. I’ve been longing to return to this hobby of mine for what feels like centuries and I’m hoping I can stick to it.

Project Me Time: Learn to Relax Every Day

Wednesday – Enjoyed A Tea Break

I love a good cup of tea…or a coffee…and I adore my weekend coffee breaks, the time I get to shut myself off from the world and enjoy a nice cuppa of my favourite beverage whilst reading a book/magazine/favourite blog. I’m a big speciality tea fan and I get delicious teas from all over the world but wy should I enjoy them on wekends only?

So I decided I’ll get a pretty cup for work (yes, because I’m that shallow and speciality tea should not be drunk from an ordinary cup…just for the experience) and I enjoyed my tea breaks ever since, not just once a week. And if you care to know, my productivity went through the roof.

Project Me Time: Enjoy tea time

Thursday – Did My Nails!

Quite a busy day involving a big client’s meeting and a 4 hours drive resulted in me being knocked down by 9pm. Just before that I managed to make a lovely dinner and sat down to wind down. I decided not to involve TV, instead made myself a herb tea, called my grandma and did my nails.

Project Me Time: Do your nails

Friday – Was Social

This Friday was a traditional fish and chips Friday with my husbands family. Sometimes all you need is a time with your loved ones, whether that is family or friends. A good chat and laugh is all we need sometimes, don’t you think?

Saturday – Went For A Walk

This is such an easy task. I try to go out for a walk every weekend. Me and my husband tend to want to leave the erratic city life behind for a moment or two and re-connect with nature. Iā€™m a person who craves light and can’t be locked up in the house for too long.

A good walk in nature is beneficial for you! It’s proven that walking in nature may soothe the mind, make you happier and more content.

I did forget my camera on Saturday, so there will be no recent picture so I decided to add a picture of my favourite place in Yorkshire – The Yorkshire Sculpture park.

Sunday – Had A Bath

…or a beauty time! Ah I do love my Sunday evenings. This is the time when I’m finally by myself. The house is clean, food cooked, posts written, pictures edited and I can finally relax. It’s time to put my mask on, grab my kindle, fill the bath with hot water (and salt crystals of some kind)…and fall into relaxation. Don’t you just love days like these? The whole process lasts about an hour but oh boy, do I feel like a princess afterwards!

Project Me Time: Bath Time

I would also love to add a bit of jogging after work but I’m waiting for
the light.spring to come. It’s just too dark in the evening at the minute and I’m miss scaredy cat.

What about you lovelies, do you accept the challenge to find the time for yourself every day during the week? It sounds hard, but it’s actually easier that I had thought. You have to think ahead and plan your “Me Time” responsibly.

Anyone else wants to join me and my little Project Me Time, let me know at

Yours truly,

Dash xx

What a lovely idea! I might try to do this myself. You're not shallow, incidentally, they did a study a while ago and tea genuinely tastes better when drunk from your favourite cup – like a whole different part of the brain lights up. No idea why, but that's how I justify it.

Ah, I'm so glad it's scientifically proven because I have whole selections of pretty "posh" cups for my tea! Now I don't have to feel guilty about spending all those pennies. Xx

love your Project Me Time! I recently pulled out Monopoly a few weeks ago with friends, forgot how much fun it was to just sit and play a board game. xo

Board games are a bit forgotten nowadays, aren't they? It's such a shame as it's so much fun Xx

I definitely agree with you, I believe that our morning defines our whole day. As for that, we must try to have positive vibes in the morning and enjoy the day throughout. Anyway, I loved how you list these relaxing stuff you did, it might help somebody else. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for such a lovely comment. I agree, positive vibes all the way through! Xx

I think it's so important to take time to relax & treat yourself everyday. I rarely play baord games but would love to do it more often! x

    • March 8, 2016 / 1:52 pm

You definitely should! I also got myself 4000 pieces puzzle that's been occupying me most evenings and I love it!

I love this idea! I always make sure to prioritize me-time, which usually means curling up with a book and cup of coffee. I love using the gym as my time to get away too : )

Books are the best, aren't they! I wish I can read more often. I'm hoping I can add the gym to "Me Time" from next month, sadly this month seems to be too crazy. Xx

Ahh this is so necessary. People don't think it is, but it really is. Me-time is so undervalued its ridiculous. A little selfish time is always needed. šŸ™‚ I wish I lived near a field of sheep! I'm sure I would feel much more calm.

Lovely lovely post! 'Me time' is very important and I don't know anyone who has enough of it. I may make it my challenge next week to have some 'me time' and see how it goes.

    Love this post!
I think it is definitely important to have a little bit of 'me' time but know how hard it is to switch off (especially if you work from home like myself) and you show in this post that it doesn't have to be a whole day or even an entire hour, simply enjoying a tea break can be enough sometimes!
