Few weeks back we went to London for an extended weekend holiday break and it was absolutely brilliant. We also got incredibly lucky, because while it was pouring down in Leeds, it was incredibly sunny in London. Yay!
One afternoon, we had a bit of spare time before we were meant to meet everyone for a dinner so we decided to have a bit of time for ourselves. As the weather was gorgeous, we didn’t really want to spend it surrounded by concrete so we went to the nearest park armed with the most powerful ammunition ever, a bottle of wine and some lovely strawberries. Fortunately, we had my travel blanket in a car so we could do it in style and not having to sit on the ground. However, this picnic made me realise how much I need to own a picnic basket. Certainly one to get this summer!
The weather finally came around, after long (and rainy) winter, sun shone high above us and I was feeling like a little girl when going on a trip. The best part about picnic is the good weather and company you get to bring with yourselves. I certainly won a lottery with mine. My husband even surprised me and walked out of the shop with a bunch of flowers. Isn’t he the best (but don’t tell him that, he will get full of himself).
Who said you can’t do picnic in a dress? I know, you have to be careful the way you sit but on the other hand you get to tan you legs. For this special occasion I was wearing my new Bonprix dress I bought especially for this trip to London, not knowing how handy it would be. I mean when we set towards our adventures in London, I had no idea, I would be having a picnic in a park.
On a plus side, this gorgeous dress was perfect for the evening dinner as well and I didn’t have to waste my time going back to the hotel and getting changed. I only had to pack heels into the car – heels would be so uncomfortable to walk in on the grass.
This weekend in London was amazing and made me realise one thing. It’s so good to step back every now and then and enjoy the time only with your family and friends. I will never forget the feeling of utter happiness just sitting on a grass, soaking the sun and sipping on a glass of chilled wine. Nothing to stress about, just emerging myself in that moment of pure peace. I also have a series on my blog called “Project Me Time” where I talk about the importance of finding time for yourself, as it’s so important to relax. We live busy lives so it’s vital we also look after our health. So go and have a read!
Have you had a picnic yet this year? What did you wear for this occasion?
