I’m still on a cloud nine, full of excitement and pride. Still, even after months, I wake up in the morning with a huge grin on my face and have to pinch myself. This is not a dream, this is a reality that I finally get to live!
I still remember the day we officially went to pick up the keys to our new house !!! :))) I can still feel them burning in my hands. Perhaps it was the burning sensation of owning my own home? Who knows?
We went from a room to a room, up and down, and then we did it all over again…several times.
To get to this point, it was a long process (6 months to be precise) to get this house and there were moments were I’d nearly given up. There were tears and frustration with the bureaucracy but we got there in the end and it was so worth it.
Finding your perfect home is never easy and I know what I’m talking about. It took us 2 whole years to find our ideal house, the place we could call home. Nothing was ever good enough, not quirky enough, big enough, light enough or with the right view…you get the jist…we were just too picky! Righteously so. Buying a new home, is a serious process. You’re buying that one place you get to live for many years to come, the place you can call ‘your home’. No wonder it has to be perfect.
Home means so much to me. When I think of home, I immediately think of colors, materials and accessories. To be precise, a nice clean cosy home means to me more than I dare to admit.
I’m exactly the type of girl that needs her environment to be inspiring and motivating.
When I’m surrounded by pretty things I immediately have better mood and all of a sudden everything I want to do seems achievable. What about you guys, do you agree?
Our home is going to be a work in progress. Whilst there’s nothing wrong with it, we want to make our own mark on it.
Paint the walls with colors that will brighten our mornings, day after day.
Invite our friends over for dinners, summer BBQs, celebrate with family or have movie nights in.
I cannot wait to create our ‘home’ with my husband, to create memories that one day, we will cherish and remember, together.
And now, here we are. The moment arrived and we are happily living ‘among boxes’, planning until late at night, arguing about the living room wall colour but unanimously agreeing on the look of our dining room table. We’re in it deep, we don’t know where to start or how long it will take. But we are excited and motivated.
I still remember the morning I made my very first coffee and got to drink it outside on the terrace dressed in my working gear, ready to tackle the moving day. I stood there, proudly enjoying the view, letting that moment to sink in. The rest of the day went by in a dream; a whirl of loading and unloading, organising, scrubbing, some more tea drinking, cleaning and sweeping.
Our fist night in the house was in an empty (and yet messy) room but we were both happy, falling asleep with phones in our hands, scrolling through Pinterest, saving all those wonderful ideas, full of excitement that we couldn’t contempt. And who can blame us?
Again, life proved to me, for the thousands time, that when something is meant to be, it will come and it will be even better than you have ever expected. No matter how long you wait, you have to believe.
