Outfit Post: Summer Vibes & White Lace Dress

The holiday season is in full swing and you’re either reading this post whilst sipping a cocktail on some beach in a very hot hot location or might be just getting an inspiration for your next summer adventure.

I, for one, enjoy a very cloudy day in Croatia. I swear, as soon as I got to the beach, a massive cloud arrived with all his mates and decided to linger all day long. I’m not going to dwell on it and instead I decided to get a small beer at the local beach bar and type up as many posts as I can. Afterall, I very much enjoy the view and the fact I get the opportunity to connect with you from a location that inspires every inch of me, I feel happy and content.

I currently vacay in Croatia, a small tourist town called Brela, but instead of staying in the whirl of the tourism, we’ve decided to hide in a sweet spot on the outskirts of Brela on the top if the hill with the most luxurious view.

Nonetheless there are days we dare to venture out of our secluded little bubble and head out searching an adventure. Last night we opted for Baska Voda, a historic town with gorgeous old hoses and cobbled streets. Instead of parking at the bar, we got lost wondering its old streets. We even managed to discover few local cafes occupied by the locals only and let the atmosphere fully surround us. Among others we also discovered few little local shops and, of course, got ourselves few bottles of the local alcohol – Travarica.

I enjoy travel to the full brim and I’d search for hidden corners of the world persistently and relentlessly. I’m in my prime on summer holiday, self proclaimed sun worshipper, I’m happy to sweat all day long.

However, walking towards all those adventures in the heat of above 30°C is no fun and can very easily turn into a “sweaty business” if I’m not careful about what I’m wearing.

How to dress in summer when it’s hot.

That’s why I’ve prepared this little guide on how to dress on your summer vacay for all you adventurers who love to venture out even when it’s a really hot day or evening. Nothing can stop us now!

Dress in thin layers and choose your material wisely.

Material is probably THE biggest difference to your heat management system that you can make and can make a massive impact on how comfortable you feel throughout the day. Think cotton and thin layers.  Natural fibres are way more breathable than anything synthetic – though my underskirt was nothing but synthetics and let me tell you one thing – I paid for that mistake.

Accessories, Accessories, Accessories.

Personally I don’t like to wear big statement accessories when I’m on summer holiday as I want to feel free and loose. So what do I mean by accessories? Summer holiday is a perfect opportunity for me to go big on hats and summer sunglasses. Not only you protect your head (trust me, been there done that, think head down the toilet because you overheated.) Protecting from UV rays will eventually keep you cooler too.

Go light!

Light shades such as whites and nudes will naturally reflect light as opposed to absorbing it. Whilst I love the good old black dress, I would leave it for a night rather than wearing it on a day trip (trust me, I made that mistake in the past).

Go Loose

I love freedom on my holiday and for this reason I tend to opt out for loose summer dresses. Whilst this one is clearly not your typical oversized shirt dress, it provides enough room for air to flow by, keeping me cool.

It’s All About Your Shoes – Those Shoes

Whether you’re wearing heels or flats, keep your shoes open-toed, and sturdy, if you want to keep from sweat-slipping out of them or sweaty swollen feet (yuck!).

Today’s Outfit Post:

Today’s outfit post is all that. It’s all that summer represents to me and whilst I appreciate some might find white and lace summer dresses a bit cheasy, I love it. In fact, I’m a big sucker for …

I actually managed to get this white number on a sale about a year ago (£5 only!!) and this was a first time I wore it, though certainly not the last one. A little WHITE dress is, for me, a welcome addition to my wardrobe, despite the fact that due to British summers, I might only wear it on holiday.

The lace adds a real classy edge to this dress, making it far more standout than it would if it was purely white. Perhaps it was the reason I was drawn me to this dress as soon as I spotted it in the shop. With its length, shape and white colour, I did feel rather lady like in this dreamy summer ensemble.

Dressing for a hot summer day, you are left with two choices, you can either be the queen, totally slaying it, or you can end up like a sweating, frizzled mess as soon as you step out of your air-conditioned residency.

I hope you’ve found my tips on how to dress up in hot weather somewhat helpful and as always, take any advice with a pinch of salt. Wear what you want (…and face the consequences) and be the queen of style you want to be.

What are your top tips on what to wear in summer when it’s red hot?

I love your white lace dress, it is stunning! And it looks lovely on you. I love lace clothes. I love wearing white clothes when I go away. It keeps me cool and it make me look slightly more tanned than I actually am! The open toe shoes are important too when it’s really hot, otherwise I get very uncomfortable.

This outfit looks fab on you – I love how you’ve kept it simple and not too dressy with the flat sandals x

Gorgeous shots, view and you look amazing in that dress. I really wish I could wear white but I feel extra fat in light colours, ha. I agree on the tips you’ve given for how to dress in hot weather. Sadly I won’t be experiencing it this year… x
